MEDICAL RECORDS

If you received medical treatment in the course of a Louisiana Workers Compensation Claim, you're entitled to a copy of all of the records, notes and reports created by any doctor or therapist that examined you.

In fact, if you attend an appointment with a doctor, psychologist or therapist selected by your employer or their Workers Compensation insurance company, the doctor is supposed to provide you with a copy of their report at the same time that they provide it to the insurance company. This rule is rarely followed and you will usually be required to request the records either from the Workers' Compensation insurance company or directly from the doctors or therapists office.

It's important that you not only attend all of your medical appointments, but that you also find out what the healthcare professionals are reporting to the Louisiana Workers Compensation insurance company about your medical condition, work-status and need for future treatment.
